Robert Weimerskirch
"Thoughts and Improvisations"

Robert Weimerskirch, a prominent figure in the Houston art community, now lives and works in Wimberley, Texas. There in his hill country studio, he paints and sculpts in clay, creating a prodigious body of sculpture and paintings. His next exhibition focuses on the sculpture and showcases a variety of subjects based on his "thoughts and improvisations". His thoughts seem to be rooted in classical themes, while his improvisations imbue his clay objects with a decided touch of whimsy. Among themes explored in this exhibition are the human figure, architecture, and the natural world.

Weimerskirch has been actively involved in his art and teaching in Houston since the early 1960's when he relocated from his native Luxembourg

by way of the Belgian Congo where he worked in architecture.
His art education was received from the Academie Royale des Beaux Arts de la Ville de Bruxelles and the Academia di Beli Arti Brera, Milan. He has taught drawing and painting at the Unviersity of Houston, The Glassell School of Art, Museum of Fine Arts Houston and the Houston Art League.
